With the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for free legal help will skyrocket as courts re-open, evictions and foreclosures resume, and hospitals sue for unpaid medical bills.

PBRC has mobilized and is responding as fast as we can to the new challenges. With our remote pro bono legal clinics already underway, we are meeting the legal needs of families as they arise. And our staff are working hard to address the challenges low-income families will face in the weeks and months to come. You can help those families right now through our Auction for Action. Bid now!

Since 1990, PBRC has connected lawyers and communities across Maryland to ensure free legal assistance for those in need. We recruit and train lawyers, refer volunteers to nonprofits statewide, and develop free legal clinics that are held at courthouses or convenient community sites like libraries, senior centers, and hospitals.

Because PBRC is small and flexible, we can constantly innovate, adjusting our services to tackle new legal problems that other nonprofits aren’t yet addressing. Our current free legal clinics help people save their home, avoid eviction, negotiate deals with creditors, avoid deportation, or plan for end of life.
