About Our Auction

I have been involved with Zoe's Animal Rescue for several years. I have fostered dogs and helped with their website, it's a rewarding role for sure. Helping out gives me a small insight into the amount of funding organizations like Zoe's need in order to help our furry friends. Every puppy I have fostered is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and cared for by a loving volunteer before it is adopted for a nominal fee.
A straightforward adoption probably costs Zoe's more in vet care and food than the fee they receive from the adopters.
So imagine when there are added vet bills - a dog is brought in after being hit by a car, a puppy gets parvo and needs special medications, an older dog is surrendered and needs one on one help from a trainer so it can be re-homed - these things quickly add up.

Recently two older paintings were returned to me and thought this would be a good opportunity to help Zoe's pay down their vet bills.
I am auctioning off these two pieces, plus a few other paintings, prints and books that also need a home.

50% of the proceeds will be donated to Zoe's so bid high and bid often to help the pups (oh and the cats too).

About Karen Bishop Artist

I am visual artist based in Edmonton, Alberta.

My work is not intended to be a faithful reproduction of the landscape before me. Instead I paint by feel. The paintings that evoke the most emotion are those completed on location where I am able to allow my surroundings and the weather to dictate how I proceed. I try not to worry about the ending, rather I let the painting unfold and track its own course across my paper.

For me painting allows that perfect quiet, where I am peaceful and at peace with myself, and my surroundings. It's an escape from the everyday, a chance to experience the earth more fully, a chance to breathe and know that all is well.

To put it simply, I paint because it makes me happy. My hope is that the viewer can find a similar joy and peace in my work.
