Mending the Line & Warriors and Quiet Waters

Mending the Line is a narrative feature film about a Marine who is wounded in Afghanistan and sent to a VA facility in Livingston, MT. While trying to recover, he meets a Vietnam veteran who teaches him how to fly fish as a way of coping with his physical and emotional trauma.

It’s a story of a resilience and pain, of loss and brotherhood, of what it means to truly live; it’s about the healing power of standing in a river and waving a stick.

In keeping with the theme of the film, during our World Premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival, we will treat a small group of combat veterans to a private fly-fishing excursion hosted by the makers of Mending the Line and Brandon Lassure, in partnership with Warriors & Quiet Waters.

This raffle is in support of these efforts with all proceeds being provided to WQW. For ALL items you are purchasing a chance to win the prize - winners will be chosen at random at the close of The Woodstock Film Festival. A maximum of 300 tickets will be sold for each item (except the MTL Simms shirt and the WQW SWAG Pack).

**NOTE: Our raffle will now be open until the films next screening at the San Diego Film Festival on October 22nd.

About Mending the Line & WQW

“The dark side of being one of America's Heroes. People tend to forget that when our men and women return from a world most of us will never see or understand, is that there is trauma, there is a risk, there is mental health that needs to be rebuilt, trust that needs to be regained, and life that needs to continue.”

A Marine wounded in Afghanistan returns to a VA hospital in Montana where he meets a Vietnam vet who teaches him fly fishing as a means of coming to terms with his physical and emotional trauma.

Warriors & Quiet Waters guides post-9/11 combat veterans and their loved ones to thrive and find peace, meaning, and purpose through fly fishing and other inspirational activities in nature.

When service members are in the military, their mission and sense of purpose are clear, and their lives are structured to meet those objectives. Service members’ needs – basics like food and shelter, as well as emotional needs like connection and self-esteem – are met by the military so that they can focus completely on their mission.

But when service members suddenly take on the new title of “veteran”, their new mission may not be so clear. They have to fulfill these needs on their own – often for the first time in their lives.

They often do it alone. They may not have structure or purpose in their days, teammates to rely on, or even ready access to the most basic needs. Add in a physical, moral, or psychological wound, and the likelihood of struggle is even higher. Without a clear identity and purpose, it’s difficult to find a path forward.
