MARA LAGUNA HERITAGE CARVINGS


Long before Mara Laguna became the community we know today, these hand-carved pieces made from a variety of Belizean hardwoods were part of the property’s character.

They have been here through the years as Mara Laguna grew and changed. From the earliest days as a resort and timeshare called Reef Village, to an owner run neighborhood of condominiums and villas. They were part of the visual personality of the property, adding an unmistakable Caribbean/Belizean character to the buildings and grounds.


Most of these carvings were hidden in the old buildings that housed the restaurant, set aside, and forgotten as the property evolved. Some show the marks of years spent in a tropical climate and are ready to be displayed either in their rustic condition or restored with stain or paint.

Rather than discard these pieces of our past, the Executive Committee felt they should have another life. And who better to give them that life than the owners of Mara Laguna?


Whether displayed in a condo, villa, balcony or vacation home, each piece brings something ordinary store bought items cannot.

They were here before you.They were part of Mara Laguna’s story.And now they can be part of yours.
100% of the proceeds from our auction will go directly back into the community, helping us create a welcoming gathering area around the island and pool.  You can see a basic outline in the picture to the left here on this page.  

Funds will be used for picnic pavilions, games, furnishings, and other improvements that give owners and guests more places to gather, relax, and enjoy our tropical home.

We have three additional options for owners to participate. 
    - Name a pavilion - you have an opportunity to bid on naming one of 
       the two pavilions. The two top bidders will be awarded the naming 
       rights for our island pavilions. You select the name and we will 
       have the name placard made and installed.  Pending a tail wag of
      approval from our Mamma Croc (akin to committee and EC 
          approval.) 

    - Sponsor an island sculpture - we have saved eight sculptures 
       to place at the pavilions and around the pool. If you do not have
       space for one of the sculptures being auctioned and would like to get
       involved consider bidding to sponsor one of these fun island 
       additions.
     -As well, if you prefer to just do a donation for the fun of it you can    
       choose the buy now donation option. 

Winning bidders will have an invoice emailed to them at the end of the auction with all necessary information. Payment options will be by Venmo, Zelle, or pay in cash in person at pickup.
