About Our Auction

Welcome to our 8th Annual Pig Roast Auction! Although this event is usually in person, due to the Covid-19 pandemic we've moved the auction online but we have just as many amazing baskets! All of the proceeds from this auction will support the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center's general fund - which covers operating costs and salaries of our minimal staff. While we have significantly cut our costs this year, we are very much in need of support. The pandemic has hit us hard and our income has been drastically less than usual. We appreciate your support of our auction and the Nature & Wildlife Center! Every little bit helps us move forward to continue to promote conservation of and education about the flora, fauna, and lands of the Lake Erie Islands ecosystems.

About Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center

The mission of the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center (LEINWC) is to promote conservation of and education about the flora, fauna, and lands of the Lake Erie Islands ecosystem. The LEINWC is located on Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island, OH. The Nature & Wildlife Center was formed by a collaboration between the Lake Erie Islands chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy and the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society. In 2012 we became an independent non-profit organization providing education through our museum and outreach programs.

Along with being in the middle of the walleye capital of the world, the islands are home to hundreds of species of birds and are the only place in the country where the federally threatened Lake Erie Watersnake can be found.

The Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center has been under construction for our building addition, which has been funded by our amazing community. The addition will house a much-needed office space, and a large new display room where we are planning to have exhibits of live animals (reptiles, amphibians, an insects), island geology, and a wildlife viewing window. This space will help us better support our mission and continue to be an educational resource for the community!
