About Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support in English and French to young people. As the country’s virtual care expert, we give millions of youth a safe, trusted space to talk over the phone or through text message, in any moment of crisis or need.

Over the past 30 years, we have evolved our response and solutions, always focused on staying relevant to youth, recognizing the complexity of issues they face, and ensuring our professional counselors and crisis responders are ready to address the continuum of emotional and mental health needs, from crisis situations to the everyday concerns of growing up.

Through our digital transformation, we envision a future where every young person in Canada is able to get the support they need when they need it most.

Kids Help Phone is seeing a historic surge in demand that began in mid-March. Young people all across the country are struggling to cope with the complex impacts of COVID19. We witnessed its profound mental health impacts on youth. Compared to this time last year, we are now consistently experiencing a 112% increase in volumes across all of our service channels – an astonishing surge in demand from youth that we have been able to meet, without pause, thanks to our courageous donors, partners, volunteers and more.
