About Our Auction

This online auction is a fundraiser for Good Beginnings of Central VT's in conjunction with our annual event, It Takes a Village. It Takes a Village brings together the Central Vermont community to raise awareness about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, build community, and grow the village of support for parents and caregivers.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on the State House Lawn in Montpelier.

Parents will be able to build their village by connecting with each other, and accessing community resources on mental health, parenting, and self care, all while enjoying family-friendly performances and developmentally-appropriate fun and games for children from birth and beyond.

Our core partner is the Central Vermont Perinatal Mental Health Coalition – which is made up of: the Family Center of Washington County, the Washington County Mental Health Services Doula Project, the CVMC Women’s and Children’s Unit, Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice’s MCH home visiting team, WIC nurses from the VT Department of Health, Capstone’s Head Start program - and many others!

It Takes A Village celebrates and supports families in our community while raising awareness about how perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth that often go undiagnosed.

Proceeds from this silent auction help us bolster our many free offerings and programs for both prenatal and postpartum families in Central Vermont. Thank you for your support, and for being a part of our village!

About Good Beginnings of Central VT

Our Mission
To bring community to families and their babies.

Our Vision
We envision a society where the transition to parenthood is supported and communities come together to ensure all infants thrive.

Our Story
Good Beginnings was founded in 1991 by three mothers in Northfield, VT who recognized a growing need for support for new parents due to the combined effects of shorter postpartum hospital stays and a diminished role for extended family and other traditional sources of support.

Since that time, our volunteer Postpartum Angels have provided families throughout Washington County, as well as in neighboring regions of Orange, Lamoille, and Chittenden Counties, with respite, companionship, and connections to community, as well as help accessing resources for breastfeeding and parenting support, postpartum depression, and basic needs. Last year, we served a total of 107 families from 28 towns through our Postpartum Angel Family Support program. All Good Beginnings services are free and open to all families with infants.
