About Our Auction

Founded in 2009 by architect Jonathan Kirschenfeld, the Institute for Public Architecture promotes socially engaged architecture through urban research projects and a residency program for design practitioners. By supporting architects and allied professionals working in the public interest, the IPA strives to improve our public realm.

In 2015, the IPA has had its most successful year to date. highlights include a partnership with the Pratt Institute called " An Inventory of What's Possible" which celebrated the history and potential of New York City as a national leader in housing; the launching of our summer program series, "Cocktails + Q&A" which brings noteworthy critics and design professionals into conversation with IPA members; and lastly planning with city agencies to create development that gives the public a voice in the shaping of our built environment.

All proceeds from this silent auction will support the IPA to continue to develop partnerships and create programming that highlights critical issues around design and equity.
