HUNGRY KIDS NEED HEALTHY FOOD HOLIDAY AUCTION

The proceeds of our holiday auction will provide nutrition education to students in four schools in the Bronx, Harlem, and Crown Heights, Brooklyn, areas of New York City. Each week we teach 400 students to be critical thinkers about food, and about healthy plant-based nutrition. Four times each year they get hands on experience making their own food, including guacamole (served with rice and beans), vegetable and fruit sushi, eating the colors of the rainbow, and more! Our program also provides nutrition education to teachers and parents, so the adults are learning too!

HUNGRY KIDS NEED HEALTHY FOOD

The Coalition for Healthy School Food (CHSF) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit that promotes plant-based foods and nutrition education in schools, to teach the whole school community about the effect of our food choices on health, the environment, equity, and other social justice issues.

At the Coalition for Healthy School Food, we believe that Hungry Kids Need Healthy School Food. That's why we partner with the New York City Office of Food and Nutrition Services, and other school districts to add healthy plant-based items to the cafeteria menus. But that's not enough. We work to educate the whole school community: the students, parents, teachers, teacher assistants, administrators, and food service workers. We also create educational resources and do outreach through statewide and national conferences.
