Unmasking Hera

Nine months into the pandemic, it’s time to add some creativity and fun to mask making and at the same time, support the work we continue to do at Hera Gallery. Hera artists and friends were asked to create masks that were either functional or decorative. The masks are being auctioned to help cover the costs of our Annual URI Senior Thesis Exhibition taking place in April, 2021. This exhibition includes work in all media by graduating art majors and gives these emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit in a professional setting.

Founded in Wakefield, Rhode Island in 1974, Hera Gallery/Hera Educational Foundation was a pioneer in the development of alternative exhibition spaces across the country in the 70s. Hera Gallery was one of the earliest women’s cooperative galleries in the US and is unusual in having been established in a non-urban setting. We are committed to exhibiting the work of established and emerging artists and to encouraging ethnic and cultural diversity in both audience and program development.
