About Our Auction

Handbags for Hospice is in memory of Mary Ann Slattery, an avid hospice supporter who recently passed away and had one last goal – to see this initiative come to life for Margaret Bahen Hospice and Doane House Hospice.

Mary Ann started raising funds for hospice 5 years ago in support of the building of Margaret Bahen Residential Hospice. Her fundraisers ranged from a fun overnight golf-in-the-dark tournament to a Cow Chip Fundraiser, with all the proceeds going to our hospices.

Before COVID-19, Mary Ann started collecting gently used purses to eventually set up a Handbags for Hospice fundraiser, unfortunately due to the pandemic, this fundraising event never happened.

Mary Ann has always been a partner in the Newmarket community and an advocate for our hospices. Handbags for Hospice 2022 is in honour of the ongoing commitment that Mary Ann had to our Margaret Bahen Hospice and Doane House Hospice.
