About Our Auction

In 2015, part of the footprint of the Library was deemed "uninhabitable." After a lot of research and discussions, the Board of Trustee voted to add on to the existing 200-year-old building to create enough space for a much needed elevator, ADA restrooms, a business center, an ongoing book sale, an archive room and community room for the residents of Kennebunkport and surrounding towns. In addition, HVAC, electrical, security/telephone, roof replacement, generator, sprinkler system, and other upgrades were mandatory to the project. No funds for the consolidation of this project are being sought from the Town of Kennebunkport. We are approximately 70 percent towards reaching our project goal of $1.5 Million Dollars. We hope this auction will allow us to move even closer to achieving our goal.

A silent auction of over 25 items is also planned during the October 20 reception and will feature one-of-a-kind items such as:

* Acrylic Painting “At Sea” framed 18 x 24 by noted Maine artist Richard Reminger
* Overnight “Glamping” in 2018 at Sandy Pines Campground and two tickets to performance of your choice at Vinegar Hill Music Theater for the 2018 season.
* Trip to Costa Rica for 7 days/6 nights for a Rain Forest adventure–accommodations for six.
* Cocktail party with gourmet hors d’oeuvres; this includes set up/clean up and catering for 12 (you host the party/provide the venue).
* Red Sox Tickets, fresh lobster, artwork, and much more.

About Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library

The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library has served as the educational, social, and cultural center of our town for over a century. In the digital age when traditional organizations are struggling to find relevance, the use of the Graves Library services has grown, especially during the last decade. In addition to a dynamic lending library, there are programs for children, instructional classes for adults, computer and Wi-Fi services, e-book and audio-book downloads, monthly author lectures, free tax assistance, an ongoing book sale, and a meeting place for many civic groups and non-profit organizations.
