For more than 30 years, GAMRU South Shore Search and Rescue has been a community-based volunteer unit, relying almost entirely on local generosity to operate, train, and equip our 40+ volunteer members to save lives on Lake Ontario.

For more than 30 years, the volunteers of GAMRU South Shore Search and Rescue have braved Lake Ontario’s waters in every kind of weather to save lives, protect property, and keep our community safe. Based in Grimsby, our 30+ member crew responds to marine emergencies 24/7 from April to October, safeguarding the waters of Lake Ontario.

Our volunteers train year-round to stay ready when lives are on the line.  With nearly 70 calls in the last two seasons, GAMRU remains busy on the waters of Lake Ontario.

GAMRU is a community-based unit that relies almost exclusively on the generosity of the community to operate and maintain its rescue vessel and to train and equip its 40 plus volunteer crew members.
