With your support we can ensure a better future for young people in Covalima by providing scholarships to complete their education and prepare for future employment.
Since the scholarship program commenced in 2012, 166 students have been offered scholarships to further their education at a senior secondary, vocational or tertiary level. There have been 102 student graduates, and 27 students are still studying.
More than 40% of graduates have reported that they have found employment or continued their studies, which is significant given the constraints on employment in Timor Leste.
Higher education in Timor-Leste is unaffordable for many families. It’s expensive to send rural students away to school and it’s especially difficult for girls. Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are preparing to gain entry for vocational training and tertiary studies and a chance at a better life.
