About Fort Saskatchewan Volunteer Programs Association

The board of directors of the Volunteers Program Association oversees two important community programs, Victim Services and Restorative Justice.

Victim Services:
We are a police-based program that works in partnership with Alberta Justice and the RCMP. We promote and advocate the rights and entitlements of victims of crime and tragedy. Our company provides information, support, and community referrals in accordance with the provincial guidelines outlined in the Victims of Crime Act, the Criminal Code of Canada, and the Victims of Crime Protocol.

Restorative Justice:
FSRJ works in collaboration with community partners such as the RCMP, Crown and Bail Offices, and schools to provide an alternative resolution to the traditional court system in dealing with crime occurring in our community. In addition, we also are a provincially mandated Youth Justice Committee.

FSRJ program volunteers support victims getting their needs met. Encourage offenders to take responsibility for their actions and hold them meaningfully accountable, and connect people to local community resources.
