Every basket in our Fall Into Hope Online Auction carries something far more meaningful than what's inside. It carries hope. Hope that a parent won't have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. Hope that a child can stay in the home they've always known. Hope that another family will have the opportunity to write a new chapter. Every winning bid will help Family Promise of Wayne County continue preventing homelessness and helping local families find lasting stability. Because every basket has a story... and together, we're helping Wayne County families write a better one.

Family Promise of Wayne County is more than a shelter. We are a lifeline for local families facing homelessness and housing instability. 

When a parent is facing eviction, cannot afford the security deposit standing between their children and a new home, or suddenly has nowhere safe for their family to go, Family Promise is here. 

Our mission is not simply to respond to homelessness after it happens. We work to prevent it whenever possible, shelter families when it cannot be prevented, and walk alongside families as they rebuild stability. 

Since opening our doors in 2018, our family shelter program has served 65 families, including 75 adults and 148 children, providing families experiencing homelessness with a safe place to stay, individualized support, connections to community resources, and assistance on their path toward permanent housing. 

In 2021, we expanded that mission with R.O.T.H. (Roof Over Their Heads), our homelessness prevention and diversion program. R.O.T.H. allows Family Promise to intervene before a housing crisis becomes homelessness by helping families to overcome immediate barriers such as rental arrears, security deposits, utilities and first month’s rent. 

Since the program began, R.O.T.H. has assisted 248 families with 705 children. 

Those numbers matter. But behind every number is something much more personal. 

It is a child who gets to wake up in the same bedroom tomorrow morning. 

It is a parent who can tell their children, “We’re going to be okay.” 

It is a family that never has to enter a shelter because someone stepped in at exactly the right moment. 

And it is a family experiencing homelessness being given the support, dignity, and opportunity to begin again. 

That is who Family Promise of Wayne County is. 

We are neighbors helping neighbors. We are prevention, shelter, advocacy, connection, and hope. And we believe every child in Wayne County deserves the safety and stability of a place to call home.
