Crew Position entails:
Standing a watch rotation which consists of being on duty for 4 hours and then off duty for 8 hours, on duty for 4 hours and off duty for 8 hours. This system repeats itself while the ship is out at sea until the vessel arrives at its destination. During situations such as setting or taking in sail often the entire crew is needed for this task and those who are off watch sleeping are woken up to assist with this maneuver.
The sailing duties on board consist of:
-steering the ship at the helm
-standing bow watch looking for obstructions such as rocks and other vessels the ship could collide with
-all sailing handling necessary to keep this ship on a proper course *this is a very physical job- Individuals should be able to lift at least 50lbs and be fine with existing in the elements for a couple days
-helping staff with maintenance projects
-helping galley crew cook or clean dishes
-cleaning of the vessel

Team Plymouth-Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce & Destination Plymouth, present the Draken Harald HÃ¥rfagre Viking Ship coming to Plymouth, Massachusetts July 17-20, 2018. We are very excited to welcome this 115 ft. Viking Ship to the Town of Plymouth, and be the second stop in their East Coast Expedition. This unique opportunity will inspire, educate and entertain our community, offering an enriching experience for all aged visitors.

Set Sail in Maine with 34 fellow crew members to Plymouth, MA!

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the crew sailing the largest viking ship in modern times. This experience is for any modern day explorer or adventurer. The crew on board Draken is a team of 34 people, men and women from all over the world. A mix of age, gender, nationality and background all contribute to a great atmosphere on board the ship. An estimated 2 days aboard the Draken.

The Vikings were accomplished navigators, artisans, traders and story tellers, but their greatest triumph was the ships they built.
