About Best Friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters Waterloo
Best Friends is a volunteer-driven non-profit fundraising organization that exclusively supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region. Founded in 1989 by Betty Thompson, a local tv personality, this energetic group of volunteers contributes more than 5,000 hours each year running successful fundraising events including the region’s best gala, The Chefs’ Gourmet Dinner. Over the years, they have raised more than over one million dollars to support BBBSWR and its programs. In recognition of their many accomplishments, Best Friends was awarded the Oktoberfest Women of the Year in 2016.
