Carla Ten Year Soirée & Art Auction
Founded in 2015 by artist and writer Lindsay Preston Zappas, Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles (Carla) is an essential voice made in and for Los Angeles.
Carla produces a free quarterly magazine and online reviews, and remains committed to building entry-points into the arts for the greater L.A. community. In celebration of ten years of being an impactful presence in the landscape, Carla is hosting our first-ever art auction which will conclude at our anniversary soirée. The event will also celebrate the release of the milestone 40th issue of our quarterly print magazine, and will have all of the available auction works on view. The impressive roster of L.A.-based artists participating in the art auction of accessibly-priced works on paper mirror Carla's dynamic and inclusive coverage – and many of them have been featured in our pages over the last decade.
The auction will go live online on May 30 and conclude at the in-person event on June 14 at The Pit. Each of the 104 L.A. based artists included have contributed a small, accessibly-priced 5 x 7 inch work on paper; this small-scale format is inspired by blow-in cards found between the pages of print magazines. Some artists have reinterpreted this theme across other mediums: small sculptures, ceramics, photography, and fiber works are also included. The starting bid for all artworks will be $300.
Join us at the live event for a celebratory evening of art, music, food, and drinks — plus a special performance by Dynasty Handbag! Come soirée with us and help keep art and cultural production in L.A. thriving.
