The Buddy Fund

The Buddy Fund is a 501(c)(3) charity helping St. Louis area children without regard to race, ethnicity or religion. It was founded in 1962 by St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Hawks player/sportscaster Buddy Blattner to help redirect the lives of underserved and at-risk youth by supplying sports and recreation equipment to charities and organizations in our communities.

Our Mission: 
We serve our local at-risk youth in partnership with dedicated schools, recreation, and youth organizations by providing new sports and recreation equipment to create opportunities for development of their physical and mental health, confidence and character, teamwork and respect for others, and academic expectations and personal responsibility.

Our Accomplishments: 
Each year, we provide new sports equipment to youth organizations that have direct access to the at-risk underserved youth. Since 1962, cumulative efforts by The Buddy Fund have helped over 500,000 youngsters and provided more than $5,000,000 in sports and recreation equipment and supplies. Every dollar donated is nearly doubled because of our longstanding relationship with the equipment vendors which allows purchase of the equipment at a reduced price.

The Annual Golf Classic and Auction is the main fundraiser for The Buddy Fund. (https://www.buddyfund.org) The funds raised are used to help at-risk, underserved youth by directly providing new sporting and recreational equipment and supplies to 197+ non-profit youth organizations, schools, and foster and group homes in the greater St Louis Region. Participating in sports creates a positive, impactful effect on the at-risk youth by building self-esteem and confidence, learning about teamwork, developing skills and living a more active, healthy lifestyle.
By bidding on auction items or donating through Fund A Need, you are making a difference! YOU can put a ball into the hands of a youth and make a BIG Impact in their lives!
Every dollar donated is nearly doubled because of our longstanding relationship with our vendors to purchase at a reduced price.
This year we are helping a record number of 197+ non-profit youth organizations in the St. Louis Region.
Our Auction and Fund A Need goal this year is $40,000.
