BSB Gallery is proud to host the silent auction of Jamel Shabazz's photographic prints. The Trenton Downtown Association printed these works, with the permission of the artist, who signed and donated them for his exhibition, "Love is the Message", in August 2018.

About the Artist:

Jamel Shabazz is best known for his iconic photographs of New York City during the 1980’s. A documentary, fashion, and street photographer, he has authored 8 monographs; Back in the days, The Last Sunday in June, A Time before Crack, Seconds of my Life, The Remix, Represent, Pieces of a Man, and Sights in the City, and contributed to over three dozen other photography related books. His photographs have been exhibited worldwide and his work is housed within the permanent collections of The Whitney Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Over the years, Shabazz has instructed young students at the Studio Museum in Harlem’s “Expanding the Walls” Project, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture “Teen Curators” program, and the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. Shabazz is also a member of the African American photography collective, Kamoinge Inc. and his goal as an artist is to contribute to the preservation of world history and culture.

The BSB Gallery is Trenton Downtown Association's (TDA) latest contribution to the Creek to Canal Creative District (C2C), Trenton's first arts and cultural district. This new space will be a platform to promote and recognize all the extraordinary art being created in our Capital City.
