BJHS and DMS DI Global Finals

Over twenty bright and energetic creative problem-solvers will be representing Bob Jones High School and Discovery Middle School at the 2017 Destination Imagination​ Global Finals! From May 23-28, over 8,000 students from all corners of the globe (48 states and over 20 countries represented) will converge upon the campus of UT, Knoxville, having won the honor of competing at the international level by winning first place honors at their state (or national) DI tournaments.

The minimal cost for each person (21 students, 4 team managers, and our school sponsor) is $750. Parents and team managers have volunteered transportation for our teams, which helps curb additional expenses. To help cover these costs, team members, managers, and their families have planned several fundraising events, including this auction. Our fundraising efforts are critical because we want to ensure that all students can participate regardless of their financial situation, and we want to help defray costs for our team managers and sponsors who have given so much of their time throughout the year.

Destination Imagination is the world’s largest creative problem-solving program for students, focusing on teaching kindergarten through university students to solve STEAM (STEM plus the arts)-focused, multidisciplinary challenges (primarily merging engineering and communication skills) in a team format, with a budget, timeline, and logistical parameters. DI is invaluable for helping students learn problem-solving skills that they will use throughout their lives.
