About Our Auction

VBIS continues to face ever-increasing demand for its services and programs, which brings with it increased costs. Our popular “ABI 101” program, which provides education and advice to recent survivors on adjusting to life after a brain injury, continues to operate with a lengthy waiting list. Now more than ever, VBIS needs the continued assistance of its community partners in helping us to address the myriad of challenges faced by our highly vulnerable and expanding client base.

Your purchase of gala tickets and auction items helps to support over 12 different programs that support brain injury survivors and their families. These programs take people from being in crisis to being able to be active community members with the resources and skills they need to maximize their quality of life. For more information on the programs and services offered please check out our website. http://vbis.ca

About Victoria Brain Injury Society

The Victoria Brain Injury Society’s mission is to support, educate, and advocate for adults with acquired brain injuries and their families; and to increase community awareness about acquired brain injuries.

Victoria Brain Injury Society gives survivors and their loved ones long term support through the many steps, both backward and forward, of life after brain injury. From those just released from hospital, to those who have lived with their injuries for decades, survivors consistently express gratitude and relief once they’ve walked through the Society’s doors. Finally, people who “get it”!

We offer that which society in general does not: a safe place to interact with people who understand. Issues like poor memory, short tempers, inappropriate behaviors, difficulty speaking and disorientation are accepted; coping strategies are shared.

Unprecedented acceptance is felt through the society – from fellow survivors, peer supporters, volunteers and staff.

Victoria Brain Injury Society makes a difference to those experiencing depression and anxiety which is common for many survivors of brain injury. The Victoria Brain Injury Society is a place to be heard and accepted, a place to recognize again one’s value and worth, a place to ask questions for which there are few answers in the mainstream and a place to meet friends.
