About Bay Haven School of Basics Plus PTO

Opened in 1926, the school has a rich history and is Sarasota County's only school recognized nationally as a “Blue Ribbon School” and has been a “Five Star School” for twenty-four (24) years running. In our twenty-sixth year as Sarasota County's only magnet elementary school, our program was developed emphasizing a back-to-basics approach with strong discipline, contracts for parents, students, and staff; and some program offerings not available in other Sarasota Schools. The Bay Haven School of Basics Plus is based on the premise that all students can grow academically, physically, and emotionally in a highly structured environment.

In recent school years, the Bay Haven PTO;
Gives $200 to every Grade-level & Specials teacher and $100 to every Support staff member per school year as supplemental funds
Fulfills over $15,000 in Teacher Classroom Requests annually, supporting educational enrichment
Provides 40 + Field Trip Opportunities annually for all grade levels of Bay Haven students
Hosts Staff Meals & Teacher Appreciation Events
Purchased 45 Hospital-Grade Air Purifiers for every classroom for the 20/21 school year & continues to provide replacement filters
Replaced several standard water fountains with Filtered Water Bottle Filling Stations, eliminating more than 45,000 plastic bottles to date, & creating a more hygienic hydration experience
Purchased 2 fans for the PE shelter…and so much more!
