Art for Opportunity 2026

This auction, featuring artwork generously donated by Maine-based artists, brings art and community together for a shared purpose: raising funds to keep Maine Needs’ mission in motion.

This year, our goal is to double what we’ve raised in past years so we can be there for our community throughout the coldest months of the year.

BID BIG! Your bids help us keep essential items stocked and ready whenever they’re needed — whether a caseworker requests warm winter boots for an unhoused neighbor, a school needs snow pants so students can safely play at recess, or a provider reaches out for cold-weather sleeping bags for a single mother and her children sleeping in their car.

The need is significant. In Maine, 245,098 households are going without their basic needs being met, representing 40% of the population. Additionally, an estimated 2,695 people in Maine are experiencing homelessness.

At Maine Needs, we believe that when we each give what we can, whether it’s our time, energy, ideas, resources, talents, or skills, we can come together to make sure our neighbors have what they need not only to get by, but to pursue the lives they want.

We all have the same basic needs, but we don’t all have the same access to them. Maine Needs is working to change that — and we invite you to be part of the mission.

Maine Needs is striving to build a community where everyone helps and no one goes without. We do that by inviting everyone to dig in, get involved and help in whatever ways they can. By rallying those around us, we’ve been able to send more than one million basic material essentials to individuals and families all across the state, at no cost to them.
