About Our Auction
Welcome to the Mood Active Amazing Race online silent auction!
All of these wonderful auction items have been donated by businesses, family and friends. Absolutely nothing is on consignment, so you can be confident that every dollar you bid will go directly to Mood Active (and not a third party prize provider).
Your support will ensure we can continue to:
- deliver exercise therapy programs that empower people to better manage their mental health.
- retain quality, experienced trainers long term who can work with participants throughout the program, while also keeping class sizes small and program fees affordable.
- engage more General Practitioner's & Psychologists prescribing regular exercise as treatment for depression/anxiety.
The Amazing Race is one of Mood Active's vital fundraising events so please dig deep and bid wide.
Hint: The Amazing Race has begun! Extra points given to teams who have bid on an online auction! ;)
Thank you for your support!
About Mood Active Association
For some time now, exercise has been shown to be an effective treatment option for depression and anxiety (in the majority of cases), yet sadly it is still under-prescribed and there is a lack of targeted, affordable services available. Mood Active's aim is to change all that!
We were established in 2013 as a non profit association and to date we have provided group exercise programs for people diagnosed with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety in the Sydney area. Our program is evidence based, where participants are referred to us by psychologists, GPs and community service providers and are required to exercise 3 times weekly for 8 weeks. Classes are run in supportive, small group settings where participants choose from either cardio tennis, yoga or circuit classes. We also do pre and post mood and fitness assessments so participants can track their progress.
We currently operate out of Kingsford and Surry Hills and while we have a long term aim of expanding throughout Australia, more immediately, we are wanting to expand the program across Sydney and build awareness of our offering.
We have established a social support group for exercise and mental health to provide options for those who cannot commit to our 8 program yet are still needing support to transition to regular exercise.
In addition, we have recently launched a 4 Week Wellbeing Workout program where participants learn the skills to motivate themselves to exercise, followed immediately by an exercise class. Class types vary depending on the program.
