Habitat: Celebrating More Than Homes

Alachua Habitat for Humanity is delighted to present our annual fundraising auction, in a brand-new virtual format! We are grateful to all the citizens and businesses in our local community who donated auction items this year. All of the money raised will support Alachua Habitat’s projects in the next year, from building affordable homes to revitalizing our community.

We know it’s a hard time for many members of our community right now. But in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, it’s more important than ever for our community to draw together and support each other. Alachua Habitat’s mission of providing safe and affordable housing is especially important in these times, ensuring that everyone has a secure place to quarantine and no fear of being unable to afford their home. While we’re sorry we can’t see you in person, this virtual fundraising event is an opportunity to demonstrate the continued resilience of Alachua County.

Thank you for taking a look at our auction; feel free to explore what we have available! If nothing suits your fancy, you can always donate by clicking the green button in the top right corner. Your support as a member of our community is essential for us to continue to serve Alachua County, so thank you!

About Alachua Habitat for Humanity

Since 1986, Alachua Habitat for Humanity has been serving our community by building more than 150 homes that are safe, healthy and affordable. In 2013, our mission expanded to include critical home repairs, allowing an additional 70 families, mostly seniors, to remain in their homes. As part of our Neighborhood Revitalization Program, we have partnered with the Greater Duval Neighborhood Association to help them realize their dreams and aspirations for community revitalization, helping not just one family at a time, but an entire community. We also enable individuals to affordably purchase home maintenance supplies and furnishings through our ReStore on SW 13th St. The lack of affordable housing is an issue that has become even more critical over the years; Gainesville is no exception. The Shimberg Center for Affordable Housing Studies at UF estimates that when student housing is factored out, nearly one household out of every three is Cost-Burdened, paying more than 30% of their income for rent or mortgage. One out of seven are Severely-Cost-Burdened, paying more than 50%. Alachua Habitat for Humanity addresses this disparity and is a leading local advocate for affordable housing solutions.
