Walk of Trees 2020

In celebration of the holidays, the Whitley Crossings Neighborhood Corporation (WCNC) is again hosting the Annual Walk of Trees.

This event is a community favorite. It gives families something fun and free to do during the holiday season!

This year will look a bit different. The new location will be at The Van Buren Event Center (301 W. Van Buren St., Columbia City, IN). In addition, the event will be open to the public for three days only – you won’t want to miss this!

We have had to make some adjustments due to Whitley County moving into the “red zone,” and to abide by local health department policies and the Governor’s orders. This is what you should expect:

** We will limit capacity to 50 people at one time. You may be asked to wait in line to come in. If the temperature is under 50 degrees, we will have an indoor place for you to wait — 6 feet apart from others.

** The Whitley County Health Department mandates a “sign in” sheet in case contact tracing is needed. This will be digital. If you already know you are coming, feel free to sign in any time: https://passages.salsalabs.org/SignintoWalkofTrees/index.html.

** Masks will be required.

** We ask that you remain socially distanced from those not in your group.

** We have done away with the raffle due to exchange of money and tickets. Every tree will now be available via a Mobile Auction.

** If you don’t feel comfortable attending this event in-person, you can still participate! We will be doing Facebook Live from the event, and you can bid on a tree right here on this site!

This years Walk of Trees hours and dates are:

Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m.
Friday, December 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m.
** IMPORTANT: All tree winners MUST pick up their trees Saturday, Dec. 5 between 8 a.m. and noon!

Whitley Crossings housing is governed by the Whitley Crossings Neighborhood Corporation, an IRS designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing safe, affordable housing for a wide range of people, including senior citizens and people with disabilities. The professional staff members who carry out the operations of Whitley Crossings Neighborhood Corporation are caring, compassionate leaders who have experience serving people’s needs.
