About Our Auction

We are holding this auction to raise funds to support the expansion of the West River Railroad Museum at Newfane Station. Your participation will raise funds to help maintain the station, increase the purchase of related historical artifacts, and lay more track to support the use of our new hand-car.
Items for this auction were donated to our 2020 annual March Soup Fest and Silent Auction which we needed to cancel due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

About Historical Society of Windham County

The Historical Society of Windham County was formed on August 23, 1927 "to stimulate interest of present and future generations in the history of the County and its several townships and acquire a more intimate knowledge of the methods, customs, hardships, and triumphs of our present ancestry."
We are the home of the Windham County Museum and more recently the West River Railroad Museum at the Newfane Station. The station opened in 1880 as a narrow gauge stop along the 36 miles that ran from Brattleboro to South Londonderry, Vermont. The HSWC received the 2018 Vermont Historical Society Award for Excellence in restoring the original station and the water tank house. This auction will help this museum continue its vision of show casing the incredible history of the West River Railroad.
