About Waukesha County Green Team

Waukesha County Green Team’s mission is to promote environmental sustainability in Waukesha County communities through education, collaboration, and local action.

In 2009 Waukesha County Green Team (WCGT) began as a voluntary grassroots organization of Waukesha County residents concerned about sustainability and preservation of natural resources in our County. At inception we adopted an internationally accepted framework The Natural Step (TNS) as a baseline for change through education, collaboration and local action and its U.N. definition of sustainability as “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Following our first TNS Discussion Circle in 2010, we began organizing around resident interest: Permaculture/food, recycling/waste, and energy. In 2012 we incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. We continued to focus on our core principles: building on resident areas of interest, meeting residents and businesses where they gather in the community, focusing on areas we can have an impact, collaboration with other county environmental groups, and collaboration with County and Municipal government.
