About Our Auction

Every year, the VYOA holds its annual Online Auction to support our student scholarship fund. Recognizing the economic barriers that many children in our area face, we have a robust financial aid program to support these young musicians and their families. This season, we have awarded nearly $40,000 in need-based scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in our programs.

Under normal circumstances, this fundraiser would help us raise around $10,000, a major source of funding for these scholarships. The upset of COVID-19 cut short our time to gather donations, and, understandably, caused many businesses to pull their donations. Despite this reality, we've decided to hold our auction in the the hopes that it will help both us and the businesses that so kindly donated their goods and services before this pandemic.

When you're browsing through our fun array of items, we hope you remember that your bids will give back two-fold: they'll support the VYOA and also encourage spending at our favorite local businesses that are struggling to weather this uncertainty.

Thank you so much for your support. Stay healthy and safe!

About Vermont Youth Orchestra Association

For over 50 years the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association (VYOA) has been a leader in shaping our region’s young musicians. This season, over 300 musicians in grades 1 – 12 represent 60 elementary, middle, and high schools and hail from 41 towns from across Vermont and neighboring states. With a keen focus on children of all ages, the VYOA offers a wide range of programming; this includes three orchestras, three training programs for beginning to intermediate strings, winds, and brass students, a percussion ensemble, a private lesson program, school partnerships and community initiatives, summer camps, and an early childhood concert series.

All programs are based at the Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael’s College. The Elley-Long Music Center is the former Cavalry Riding or Drill Hall located at Fort Ethan Allen and was renovated by the VYOA between 1999 and 2001. This beautiful building is the home of the VYOA and the primary rehearsal and concert venue for many northern Vermont performing arts organizations.
