VNCS 21st Annual Fundraising (Online) Auction

The Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society (VNCS) will be holding its annual Japanese Cultural Fair VIRTUALLY this year (because of the Covid-19 pandemic) on Saturday, October 24. This hugely popular event is both a celebration of Japanese-Canadian culture and a fundraiser for our society.

There is no admission charge to the fair but money will be raised through donations and this online auction.
Proceeds from this auction allow the VNCS to support cultural groups and activities such as Japanese Language classes, maintaining the Japanese-Canadian graves at Ross Bay Cemetery, Uminari Taiko (the first and only taiko group on Vancouver Island), Furusato Dancers (a Japanese folk dancing group) and Ikebana classes. As well, the VNCS has provided financial support to the Takata Garden Society and the Nitobe Memorial Garden at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. We also have a grant program which provides funding to other organizations or individuals who promote Japanese culture.

The VNCS promotes the awareness of Japanese culture for the benefit of its members and the greater Victoria community; it represents the Japanese community to the greater community; it identifies and serves the needs of the Nikkei community. The VNCS supports many community activities including an annual cultural fair, Japanese dancing, taiko drumming, film nights, New Year's events and many other Japanese culture-related activities.
