About Our Auction

Last year the Life CYCLE (Careless Youth Corrected by Lifer's Experience) self-help group from Soledad Correctional and Training Facility contacted United Way Monterey County about getting involved with our Annual Stuff the Bus campaign. This year, after months of planning, Life CYCLE raised $1,000 through food sales within the facility and donated it. Eager to contribute even more, they also created and donated more than $1,500 worth of art for an art auction with all proceeds to go towards the Stuff the Bus fund.

Together we are auctioning off 33 pieces of art to benefit Monterey County homeless youth. You will find that some pieces come with letters or notes about why the artist chose to create something to benefit Stuff the Bus.

Please bid generously. As you bid keep in mind that $20 buys a fully supplied backpack. We encourage you to make your tax deductible bid to support both the youth in our community and these talented dedicated artists! Your contribution supports youth throughout the county ensuring that they are able to start their school year off with confidence and with all the supplies they require.

Thank you for LIVING UNITED!

About United Way Monterey County

Our mission is to engage the community and focus resources to improve lives in Monterey County. We work collaboratively with local businesses, government and nonprofits to tackle critical issues in the community. We believe that education is essential and are pleased to be hosting this online auction to support our 7th annual Stuff the Bus campaign.

This year, there are more than 8,200 students in Monterey County who are homeless. Stuff the Bus helps these kids start school equipped with the supplies they need to be ready to learn. Backpacks are distributed throughout the county via the Family Resource Centers located in each school district in partnership with the Monterey County Office of Education.
