The 2018 OM Project

The OM Project is a collection of artwork from local artists commissioned to raise funds and awareness for Cultivate Union. The auction will be available online during the month of July and will culminate as a live event during the Dirty South Yoga Festival on July 20-22nd. Artists were asked to offer a piece of art inspired by our theme, union.

A few words from Rachelle, Founder of Cultivate Union, on this year's theme of Union:

"Most often, the word yoga is defined as “union.” I once heard a teacher describe yoga as the practice of coming together and making whole. My own experience of the practice of yoga is that it is one of integration. This practice asks that I do not turn away from any part of myself, rather that I embrace all that I am, the light and the dark.

In yoga philosophy, the concept of light and dark show up often. Light is knowledge and dark is ignorance; one isn’t good or bad, they just are. The power of light is it’s capacity to illuminate all parts of ourselves and deepen our capacity for inner knowing. Our inner knowing creates ripples of awareness that affects our families, communities, towns, states, countries, continents etc. As yogis, we know this to be true because the microcosm is a reflection of the macrocosm. Let’s use our practice, whether it’s yoga or art, to create explore awareness, potential and possibility that leads to union."
