Team Reeve - Jess and Mike run Chicago and NYC

On Sunday, November 1st, 2026, I will be running the NYC Marathon with a purpose far greater than crossing a finish line. I’m running to support those living with paralysis and to help fund the groundbreaking research that could change their lives — including my son, Nigel.

Nigel’s life was forever changed during a routine swim practice when a diving accident resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him tetraplegic. Overnight, everything shifted — for him, for our family, and for everyone who loves him.

Nigel is one of 5.4 million Americans — nearly 1 in 50 people — living with some form of paralysis. These individuals, their families, and their caregivers are the driving force behind the work of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, an organization dedicated to curing spinal cord injury through innovative research and improving quality of life through grants, information, and advocacy.

Their mission gives us hope. Their research gives us possibility. And your support helps make both of those things real.

As I train and prepare for this marathon, I carry Nigel’s strength with me every step. I also carry the belief that together, we can fuel the kind of progress that changes futures.
