About Our Auction
The Longest Day...Bridge with the Experts Auction
You are invited to San Diego Unit 539's annual charity event in partnership with the ACBL to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
The Longest Day... Bridge with the Experts Auction will start on Tuesday, April 15th and end on Sunday, June 15th
We have 20 bridge experts in our auction who have generously donated their support to our annual charity event.
As this is the 12th year of ACBL's successful partnership with The Longest Day, our Unit set a goal of $20,000. Please help us exceed last year's donations.
In addition to the Bridge with the Experts Auction, there will be a bridge game on Sunday, June 15, at the Soledad Club in Pacific Beach.
Formed in 1980, the Alzheimer's Association advances research to end Alzheimer's and dementia while enhancing care for those living with the disease.
The summer solstice is the “longest day” – the day with the Most Light – and each year at that time, we come together with ACBL and the Alzheimer’s Association to fight the darkness that is Alzheimer’s Disease.
We hope you will support our efforts to honor the more than 35 million people worldwide and their caregivers who face this horrible disease every day of the year.
As the Longest Day's inaugural partner, the ACBL has raised more than $6 million for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Longest Day...Bridge with the Experts:
When you bid on any player, please note that:
- If you bid less than what the “Buy Now” amount is, then you need to put the amount you want to bid and click on “Place My Bid”.
- If you decide to “Buy Now” the player you want, then you need to put the “Buy Now” amount and click on “Buy Now”. This way the system will “close” the bidding on the player you chose and mark her/him as “SOLD”.
The Expert will play your favorite card.
The Expert will engage in pre-game communication to review your card.
The Winning Bidder and Expert will set up a mutually agreed upon time to play an online or face-to-face game, pending your arrangements with the Expert...and give you helpful tips between rounds and after the game.
The Winning Bidder will contribute the bid amount to the Alzheimer's Association and be responsible for game fees.

About San Diego Unit 539
About San Diego Bridge Unit 539
San Diego Unit 539 includes most of San Diego County—from Carmel Valley, Mira Mesa, and Scripps Ranch in the north to Chula Vista in the south—with the exception of La Jolla, Coronado, and a few areas in the southeast county.
In all, the unit covers nearly 600 ACBL members in more than 200 zip codes. It includes the Redwood Bridge Club, located on 6th Avenue in Balboa Park, and the San Diego Bridge Club, located at the Normal Heights Masonic Center.
Unit 539’s games are held at the beautiful Soledad Club on alternate Sundays. Card fees are $10 per person, and hospitality is included.
In addition to our regular games, we host two sectional tournaments annually, hold an Appreciation Party for unit members, and conduct a special game for “The Longest Day” to raise money in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
We recently began an education program to teach bridge to elementary and junior high students and military members.
Detailed information about Unit 539 can be found on our website, sandiegobridge.com, or by email to info@sandiegobridge.com.
