About West End Center for Youth
West End Center provides low cost, high quality after school, and full-day summer care to underserved youth in Roanoke City.
Founded in 1979, our program utilizes a holistic, three pronged approach, focusing on academics, wellness, and social skills development. Students receive homework help and individual tutoring, literacy and STEM instruction, PeaceBuilders and Leadership, and fitness and nutrition enrichment.
Many of our volunteers have worked with us for 20 years or more, and it's not uncommon for entire families of volunteers to fall in love with the experience of volunteering here. Learn more about becoming a volunteer here.
We celebrate the success of our students every day. For the 10th year, our children exceeded the pass rates of Roanoke City and even the state on standards of learning tests. These extraordinary results demonstrate the efficacy of our programs.
