About Our Auction

For the 6th year, elementary school children will build scarecrows that will be auctioned the end of September to raise funds to support the art programs in two elementary schools--Townsend and Walland, TN. Art encourages children to engage in schools and to expand their problem solving and team building skills. The Townsend Artisan Guild and USBank are supplying supplies and volunteer time to compliment the art teacher's efforts and the children's creativity.

100% of your contributions will be directed to the art programs at the two schools. The children look forward to this at the beginning of each school year and remember our volunteers from year to year. This is an initiative by the Townsend Artisan Guild and USBank to encourage self-expression and excitement about education in our rural community and to support the arts for future generations.

Currently the art teachers receive 35 cents per year per student for art supplies. Supplies needed include crayons, marker, scissors, paper, clay, felt pieces, cleaning supplies and you can imagine other items which are needed. The funds raised are essential for an effective art program.

Arrangements can be made to deliver Scarecrows to you in the Maryville/Walland/Townsend area.

About Townsend Artisan Guild

Since 2007, the Townsend Artisan Guild has been the "Voice of Art, on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies" We are a collaborative group of artists and community supporters who work together to raise awareness of the art created by local artisans and support community activities to increase participation in and appreciation of art. We organize and manage 3 major events each year: a scarecrow fundraiser for two local elementary schools, an art tent for the Blue Ribbon Country Fair at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, and the Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival which provides opportunities for fiber artists to increase their knowledge about Fiber Arts.
