Share Your Gifts For Good 2024-25

The AWCA has been a proud member of the Federation of Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO) since 1971. Every three years FAWCO chooses a charity, and this year it is . The AWCA is a diamond sponsor and has been extensively recognized by FAWCO for its continued dedication and support.

The focus of the 2023–2025 FAWCO-FAWCO Foundation Target Program is the Target Issue "Our Natural Environment: Empowering Women and Girls to Ensure a Sustainable Future". This looks at the environment and the impact on women and girls.

The chosen project is: Awesome Blossoms;
Organization: Safe Spaces;
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Awesome Blossoms is the latest evolution of a community-based organization, Safe Spaces, created by Mrs. Peninah Nthenya Musyimi. This project features organic, water-efficient urban farms with 500 gardens in each farm to support girls’ education and empowerment programs and with 75 women in partnership with three primary schools located in the Mathare slum area of Nairobi.

Background:
Founder/Director Peninah Nthenya Musyimi is the first woman from Nairobi’s slums to work her way through university to qualify as a lawyer. She realized that a systematic, integrated approach is needed to address root causes of poverty and violence. In 2008, she returned to the slums to establish Safe Spaces.

Proceeds from this auction will go to support this incredibly worthy cause.

2) E-mail: Send an by  23:59  on January 17 with the subject SYGFG LIVE Auction Bid to  president@awca.nl to include the item title and your maximum bid amount.

Be sure to check earlier before the party that your bid email  request was received and you are all set for auction.
