Benefit for Reading in Motion

Reading In Motion is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young readers. Partnering with schools and teachers across Chicago and Las Vegas to bring pre-K through 2nd Grade arts-infused, data-driven reading curriculum to our youngest students. The ability to read is a powerful tool, and Reading In Motion exists to equip children who may otherwise be overlooked with this advantage.

We at Reading In Motion believe EVERY child deserves the chance to be
successful, and providing a child with the opportunity to learn to read is a gift they will cherish for the rest of their lifetime. During the formative years of pre-K through second grade, students begin to develop their early literacy skills, which builds a foundation that will last a whole lifetime. Research shows that one in four American children will grow up without learning how to read.

The path to reading success can be difficult, especially those who come from under-resourced and low socioeconomic backgrounds. Reading In Motion currently serves 3,750 of the youngest students in underserved schools located in Chicago and Las Vegas, and expanding to new areas in need.

Chicago-North Romance Writers is an independent organization whose mission is to raise and maintain a level of high-quality romance writing in all genres and to advance the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking, advocacy, professional education, publications, contests, awards, and conferences. Spring Fling is our biennial conference where in addition to offering workshops, networking, pitch appointments, we also raise money for a worthwhile organization focused on literacy. This year we are raising funds to assist the charitable organization, Sarah's Circle.
