Jasper Welcomes Ukraine

This Silent Auction is part of the Rotary Club of Jasper's Community Fundraising Dinner with three objectives: (1) Coming together as a community to meet and welcome our newest residents of Jasper - 70 Ukrainians who have escaped the horrors of war in the Ukraine resulting from the invasion by Russian, (2) Raise funds to meet the immediate resettlement needs of our Ukrainian guests, many who escaped with only the clothes on their back, and (3) Come together for friendship and community-building in a post-COVID environment.

We have had many more auctions items donated by generous individuals and businesses from Jasper and region (Alberta & BC) than we had expected, so have increased our Auction Goal to $10,000. More items to be listed - so please check back often and bid often, as the more we raise the more we can help our Ukrainian Friends!!!

All funds raised by the Rotary Club of Jasper though this silent auction will be made available to our Ukrainian friends and newest resident through the JASPER COMMUNITY TEAM SOCIETY FUND.

The Rotary Club of Jasper celebrated 25 years of service to the community Jasper and the world last year. With the motto of Service Above Self, our Vision is to be a diverse and welcoming group of leaders who demonstrate kindness and concern, and strive to make the world a better place. As people of action, we volunteer for the well-being of one another, our community, and the world, all while having fun providing humanitarian service!

As a volunteer service organization, we rely heavily on the success of our fundraising activities and the generosity of individuals and businesses in Jasper and region to support our many service activities and projects focused on community, youth, indigenous relations, and international. All our service activities are done in partnership with other organizations, increasing project spending power and the impacts they create! Last year our Club contributed $20,000 to support more than 26 service projects, resulting in total financial impact of $45,000 for these same projects. This is in addition to the 1,000s of volunteer hours by our Rotary members, Alumni, and Friends of Rotary.

COMMUNITY SERVICE projects examples include: supporting our Seniors with the annual Christmas Lunch at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Lobster Luncheon at the Alpine Seniors’ Summit Lodge; the Jasper Food Bank & Food Recovery Program; Santa’s Anonymous; contributions to the Yellowhead Emergency Shelter; and our Indigenous book project in partnership with Friends of Jasper & the Jasper Library.

YOUTH SERVICES project examples include: the Municipality of Jasper’s summer Adventure Program; our annual Rotary Youth Scholarships; and the popular Halloween Pumpkin Path in partnership with Jasper Community Outreach Services & Youth Community Helpers to create a fun activity for families on Halloween and raising funds for their charity of choice - $4,000 for the Jasper Food Bank in 2021 and 1,000 for the Jasper Youth & Child Participation Fund in 2022!

Examples of our INTERNATIONAL projects include: contribution to the Rotary International Turkey/Syria Disaster Relief Fund and Shelterbox Canada; the Global Polio Eradication Program; and an education & literacy project in Guatemala in partnership with Wisehart Charity.
