About Our Auction
Join us in celebrating the creativity, history, and character captured in the artworks that have brightened our workplaces for years. To mark the 100th anniversary of Westburne, we’re hosting an employee-only auction that offers a playful chance to bring a piece of our shared story into your home or office. From framed prints that sparked hallway conversations to original pieces that once hung in our lobbies, each work carries a memory — and perhaps a new place in your life.
How it works:
- Each month, four art pieces will be selected for auction.
- You can browse the auction site without an account, but to place a bid you must create an account.
- If you are using a non-Rexel email address to bid, you will need to request access to join the auction.
- Please do not use any work passwords when creating your account.
- Each piece will be open for bidding for a set period (typically 2 weeks).
- Add items to your watchlist to monitor bid activity.
- Note that "outbid" notifications will be sent by email.
- The highest bid when the auction closes wins.
- Winning bids will be deducted from your pay (after tax).
- Rexel will package and ship the artwork from Keaton, Mississauga to a "Hub" branch near you.
- The auction is open to employees of Rexel Canada and its operating entities and divisions, including Nedco, Westburne, Jacmar, APEX, LTL, and others.
- These works come from an older corporate collection and may show signs of wear; items are sold “as is.” All sales are final.
- We will take care to package items securely, but some transit damage is possible.
- The pieces are offered primarily for employee enjoyment and connection to our history and may not reflect market valuations.
- This auction is part of our celebration of Westburne’s 100-year anniversary; many pieces originated from that original collection.
Please contact Salim Bhojani or Fiona Blyth with questions or feedback. We hope this auction is an enjoyable way to share more of our collection with employees. Thank you for your participation and patience as we refine this new initiative.
About Rexel Canada Electrical Art Initiative
The Rexel Canada Art Initiative is dedicated to preserving, growing, and sharing a unique collection of Canadian art that traces its roots back to the beginnings of our organization. Established in the 1970s by Westburne founders John Scrymgeour and Sam Abramovitch, the collection was created to support and invest in talented emerging Canadian artists. Under the leadership of CEO Jeffrey Moyle, the collection has been revitalized with a renewed commitment to making art accessible in everyday life, particularly in the workplace, where employees can engage with and enjoy the collection firsthand. Inspired by the founders' vision, Rexel Canada seeks to continue investing in Canadian artistic talent while ensuring that the collection remains a living cultural asset. As part of this effort, selected works are being offered to Rexel employees through auction, providing an opportunity to bring a piece of the collection's history and legacy into their own homes. The broader mission is to keep Canadian art visible, accessible, and integrated into the communities Rexel serves, rather than confined to private collections. The collection's purpose is not simply preservation, but to reconnect art with public and professional spaces where it can inspire discussion, learning, and creativity.
