Raise the Roost 2023!

​Funding is needed for nesting season on Ormond and Hollywood Beaches, which has just begun and continues through September. It will support nest monitoring, habitat protection including fencing, signage, trail cameras, plus supplies for volunteers in our community stewardship program, the volunteer Beach Naturalists.

The mission of the Ventura Audubon Society is to promote at the local level, by education and action, the protection and restoration of bird populations and wildlife habitat for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biodiversity.

There are two beaches in Ventura County, Ormond and Hollywood, that do not have an entity (such as CA State Parks or US Navy) responsible for WSP or CLT species recovery. In order to help these species, VAS has developed a Shorebird Recovery Program for Ormond and Hollywood beaches. Our program focuses on three main components, Education, Science, and Habitat Protection. Biologists and community volunteers come together to protect this critical habitat and the species who call it home.
