Celebrating Our Heritage | Securing Our Future
For nine decades, the Peterborough Players has produced professional theatre at a level of quality that has gained it a significant national reputation. There is always something surprising, delightful, thought-provoking, or moving happening on stage at the Players.
Ticket sales cover less than 60% of the cost of running the theatre. Each fall, the Players hosts a signature fundraising event, a celebrated and glittering Gala and Live Auction in Peterborough. This year we have transformed what was our silent auction into this online event, and are running it during the height of our summer season to reach an even broader audience, and encourage participation among our loyal supporters who are not able to attend the Gala and Live Auction on November 2nd.
We hope you will find the following items, services, and experiences of interest. BY BIDDING ON THESE ITEMS, YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE PETERBOROUGH PLAYERS. THANK YOU! Please bid often and bid high!!
About Peterborough Players
Peterborough Players is a cultural treasure; an 86-year-old, fully professional Equity theatre in an unexpected setting -- a historic barn, 3 miles outside of downtown Peterborough, NH. The theatre offers a traditional summer season from June through September and a three-play winter season, augmented by opera and theatre on screen. For nine decades the Players has produced professional theatre at a level of quality that has gained the theatre a significant national reputation "American summer repertory theater at its most accomplished" – Terry Teachout, The Wall Street Journal.
The theatre produces a challenging repertoire ranging from the classics of world literature to the best of contemporary theatre, world premieres, and recently an annual selection from the rich canon of the American Musical Theatre. Over the years, “the barn” has been renovated from a charming but rustic facility to a to a state-of-the-art 250 seat theatre while deliberately retaining its historic charm. The Players is a cultural linchpin drawing audiences from all over the Monadnock Region, from across New Hampshire and beyond, engaging many rural and underserved audiences. The Players fulfills its historic mission to develop and train young theatre artists through our Second Company of interns and apprentices who spend the summer season learning all aspects of the craft.
The Peterborough Players is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The mission of the Players is to: “Enrich the human experience by producing quality live professional theatre, developing and training theatre artists, and offering New Hampshire a wide variety of performing arts events.”
