For all alumnae of Camp Pembroke, friends and families
Fundraise to #SAVEOURSISTERHOOD!
Camp Pembroke has been devoted to the development of independence, leadership and Jewish culture for young women for 86 years. The unique bond of sisterhood fostered at camp is unlike anything else, and has created a multi-generational community that is brought back to camp physically or through shared memories each summer.
This summer, however, for the first time in 86 years, Camp Pembroke will not open due to the risks of COVID-19. This reality is devastating to our campers, counselors and staff, who had been dreaming of their summer at camp all year. It also saddens our families and alumnae, who know how disappointing missing a summer at camp must be. Our hope is that we will return to the shores of Lake Oldham in Summer 2021 with greater excitement and spirit than ever.
So far, the Cohen Camps community has raised just over $1.2 million but we still have another $1.8 million to go! As a nonprofit organization, this $3 million loss could be devastating. The funds we are raising will cover the expenses already spent that went into preparation to open this summer prior to the pandemic, including recruiting our awesome staff, keeping camp in good shape during the winter, and updating and maintaining our facilities.
This benefit auction is created by two dozen Pembroke alums and made possible by YOU.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our generous donors. If you’ve already made a donation, thank you! If you’d still like to help, now is the time!
If you would like to make a donation directly to camp, without bidding/purchasing an item please follow the link here: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/pembroke/
About Camp Pembroke
Established in 1935, Camp Pembroke is the ONLY inclusively-Jewish camp JUST FOR GIRLS in all of New England. This is a “world away,” a special girl-focused environment free of many social pressures that may exist outside of camp. While many girls lose their voice and even self-confidence during adolescence, Pembroke is especially adept at nurturing girls’ strength and identity. Here, girls feel safe to be themselves, try new things, and grow into the person they want to be. In the studio and the pool, on the stage and the field, in lakeside Shabbat services or late-night bunk talks, girls get to laugh, cheer, listen, hug, share, and flourish.
