When is a purse not just a purse? A purse holds money, currency and funds – in other words, a purse can hold power, influence and change! The power of the purse represents the influence that can empower individuals in our community.
Every year at the Bay Area Women’s Center:
• We counsel over 770 women, men and children who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault.
• We shelter, feed and keep safe over 300 women, men and children in our facility.
• Our specially trained nurses examine over 50 adults and children who have been sexually abused.
We need your help to continue to offer these life-saving programs in our community!
About Bay Area Women's Center
The mission of the Bay Area Women’s Center is to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault. BAWC provides free-of-charge crisis intervention, advocacy and safe haven to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; and violence prevention education to the community; while actively pursuing social change.
