About Our Auction

This year 11 youth and 4 adult leaders from Peace Lutheran Church are excited to be heading to Houston, TX for the ELCA National Youth Gathering.

Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. This year the Gathering will take place in Houston, TX where youth will spend their days in interactive learning, worship, service and fellowship. Through this experience, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. This year’s theme is “This Changes Everything.”

All contributions from this auction will go directly toward the cost of this faith formation and service trip. Any funds that exceed travel cost will go toward the recognized need to lift up literacy in Houston. Houston Independent School District estimates that 74% of the students in the district come from families who struggle to provide books for their children. This means the students begin each school year at a disadvantage. Any books we donate (from an approved list) will go directly into the hands of students who might otherwise begin at a disadvantage.

About Peace Lutheran Senior High Youth Group

The Senior High Youth at Peace Lutheran Church gather together weekly to share a meal, to be community and to translate Peace's mission statement (God Loves Us and Calls Us To: Love God, Love One Another, Grow in Christ and Go in Christ) into the rhythm of their everyday, ordinary, joy-filled, messy lives. The youth recognize that being part of the body of Christ extends beyond the walls of our church building and strive to actively share the love of Christ in their daily walk. This summer that walk will include Houston, TX where they will join with 30,000 other youth and adult leaders in hopes of connecting, learning and serving.
