IOF - Ocean Education Fundraiser

This year as part of our annual student society Holiday Fundraiser, we are hosting an ocean inspired art auction. Half the earnings will be given to the artist/donor, and the other half will be donated to Sea Smart (www.seasmartschool.com), a local organization focusing on inspiring and educating youth to love and respect our oceans. Sea Smart connects children to the environment, teaching them to respect the natural world, and helping to foster their connection to nature and how crucial its health is to their futures.

The UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries (IOF) contributes to a transformative global shift toward sustainable coastal ecosystems, oceans and fisheries. It brings together a community of Canadian and international experts in ocean and freshwater species, systems, economics, and issues—and provides new insights into how our marine systems function, and the impacts of human activity on those systems.
