Oak Creek Mountain Park Downhill Trail Fundraiser
This fundraising will be specifically applied to the construction of the Oak Creek Mountain Park Downhill Flow Trail which is designed, overseen and built by Conservation Trails.
Specifically, this will be a 2-mile, downhill-only mountain biking trail with a range of features to allow for bikers of varying abilities to enjoy the trail and develop additional skills. This trail will move fast advanced riders off the existing multi-use trails, which will make them safer and more enjoyable for those users. It will be very complementary to the existing 5.5 miles of cross country biking, hiking, skiing, and equestrian trails at the park. This type of trail has been very successful on Emerald Mountain and Buffalo Pass in the Steamboat Springs area.
Sufficient financing to begin construction was secured in June and the project is well underway but requires additional funding through completion next year for the trail to reach its full potential. In our climate, new trails and features built during a dry summer and fall require substantial reshaping and compaction the following spring after the winter snows have soaked in, adding the required moisture. In order to ensure the sustainability of this new flow trail, it is imperative that our funding includes at least a year of maintenance after construction is complete.
Through conception and construction, the Town of Oak Creek (park owner) and Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (which holds the conservation easement on the park) have supported its construction to enhance the range of recreational opportunities the users of the park would like to see added. Thank you for your help in making this dream a reality and bringing more options to our beloved Oak Creek Mountain Park!

About Oak Creek Mountain Park
The Oak Creek Mountain Park is owned by the city of Oak Creek under a conservation easement held by the Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust
The park property was acquired in 2019 from the Garrity family whose desire was to see a large portion of their property, dedicated to a public biking and hiking park utilizing the trails they had built over the years.
The Oak Creek Mountain Park committee is a volunteer organization that helps maintain and develop the Park.
They work in conjunction with the South Routt Recreation Association a 501(c) 3 nonprofit to secure funding for projects in the park like the new downhill flow trail.
