About Norwich Arts Center

The Norwich Arts Center (NAC) was formed originally as the Norwich Arts Council in 1987 by a group of local artists and arts-lovers who were inspired by the region’s cultural possibilities. Our mission is to provide affordable programming in a variety of arts that reflects the area’s rich diversity and deepens arts appreciation.

NAC is an all-volunteer run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in a historic building at 60-64 Broadway in downtown Norwich CT. We have two galleries on the first floor, offices on the second floor, and the 134-seat Donald L. Oat Theater on the third floor.

The Norwich Arts Center was formed to cultivate the region's appreciation, understanding, and enjoyment of the arts by providing affordable cultural enrichment through diverse visual, literary and performing arts programs and events.

GOALS

To provide cultural enrichment to its service region through a diverse selection of artistic programming.

To increase the number and diversity of cultural activities in our communities and to broadly publicize them.

To foster an appreciation for the work of local and regional artists and provide opportunities for them to present their work.

To involve the youth of the community in the arts and stimulate and encourage development of their creativity.

To cultivate the development of the Chelsea Arts District.

To be a regional resource for the arts.
